GAP Strategies
For out "earnings plays", premarket 'news driven' plays and sector leaders, gap strategies are some of the most profitable trading strategies.  They are often unexploited and 'old fashioned' strategies developed 50 years ago have changed to many more variations of the Theme of Gap Strategies. The first reversal period 9:45 to 10:15 will usually fade the move at the open. The 30 minute rule doesn't take into account the second reversal after 10:00 that will often turn around the trend set up at the open and land you right in a the middle of a trend change.  Most often we let the stock 'pull back' and instead of buying the 30 minute high we can buy after 3 bars of lower lows at the very first break above the last bar high. This might not be before 10:15 when a direction is clearer.   By 10:20, we might expect a countertrend to begin and therefore our second reversal period might END by 10:30.  If by 10:20 we don't have a clear return to the opening trend, we can expect a strong move in the opposite direction. The longer the morning move lasts, the more chance for the move to repeat itself throughout the day, especially at 2:00, 3:00 reversal periods.

Looking for "Crouching Tigers" cup & handle breakouts, Stocks near big breakout area....etc.

Stocks can rev up for a run as potential swing and even position trades.  Stocks with the highest technical and fundamental ratings -- Earnings Per Share, Relative Strength, and Accumulation/Distribution, Volume uptrend are the best candidates for this multi-day breakouts. They usually trade about 15% below to 10% above their 52 week highs.  Strong stocks that take out old highs and explode to upside, stocks at cup & handle breakouts, upside earnings preannouncements, upgrade, merger or contract news. This category includes stocks that are in CONSOLIDATIONS like a coiled snake about to strike. Our "sink or swim" trades fall under this category and make for spectacular profit opportunities when they "swim".
